What it does
The Cims connector lets an AI assistant search the public Cims catalogue for you: peaks and their community ratings, hiking trails with their GPS data, multi-day traversals and their stages, via ferratas, canyons, climbing crags, the peak-bagging challenges and their rankings. Ask in your own words, for example “a family hike with a summit near Berga” or “an easy via ferrata near Montserrat”, and the assistant answers with links to the matching pages on fescims.com.
Connect it to Claude
- Plugin: in Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add jvidalv/cims-plugin, then /plugin install fescims@fescims. It brings the connector and four workflows (plan a hike, plan a traversal, find vertical routes, explore challenges). In chat and Cowork it will install from Claude's directory once listed there.
- Connector only: in Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, add a custom connector and paste https://api.fescims.com/api/mcp. Leave authentication off.
- Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http fescims https://api.fescims.com/api/mcp.
Connect it to ChatGPT and other assistants
Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers can use it: add https://api.fescims.com/api/mcp as a server with no authentication. In ChatGPT this means a custom connector in developer mode, until Cims is listed in its app directory.
What it can't do
- It reads the public catalogue only. It can't see your own summits, plans or progress, and it can't change anything; those stay in the Cims app.
- It answers questions, not bulk downloads: searches need a place, a challenge or search words, results come in pages of up to 50, and each address has a usage limit.
- It doesn't know today's weather, snow or closures. Check conditions before you go.
Privacy and support
The connector receives the searches the assistant sends and nothing else. Read what we do with them. For help or feedback, write to us.
