Barranco 12 Cascadas de Liri

The Barranco 12 Cascadas de Liri offers a short 5-minute approach to the second rappel, or a slightly longer climb to the first. The descent is 950m long with a 190m vertical drop, featuring 12 rappels with the longest being 20m. Full wetsuit is recommended due to the aquatic nature. The first rappel can be done on either the left (11m) or right (15m) side, with good anchors (2 chemicals with double rings or 2 parabolts with chain and ring). The second rappel is 7m, with a slightly awkward exit. Rappel 4 involves a handline from a tree to a large embedded block, with a potentially loose chemical anchor. Rappel 5 also has an exposed handline. Anchors are a mix of parabolts and chemical bolts. The return walk is 20 minutes. Two cars are recommended for shuttle, parking at the caravan area or cemetery for the lower car, and near Liri for the upper car.
