Canal dels Avellaners Inferior

Canal dels Avellaners Inferior is a very short, dry canyon in Montserrat, ideal for combining with other routes. It features two rappels, the longest being 10m, and several short downclimbs with fixed ropes. The approach from the Monistrol de Montserrat road takes 20 minutes, following a zigzag path to a higher road, then turning right before a tunnel. The descent starts with a vertical downclimb equipped with a fixed rope and maillon. This is followed by another downclimb with knotted fixed rope. The first short rappel is 8m from a tree, then another short downclimb. The second rappel is 10m from a tree. The route continues with two more downclimbs, one leading to a small pothole. The final short downclimb leads to the road. Anchors are typically ropes on trees, some with maillons. The canyon is rated v2a1I and requires a 30m rope; no wetsuit is needed. The return to the car park is a quick 5-minute walk along the road.
