Barranco Gorges del Riu Glorieta

The Gorges del Riu Glorieta canyon, near Mont-ral, offers 11 rappels with the longest at 20m. The approach takes 15 minutes down a wide track, then a path, and finally into a dry streambed where the first rappel (17m) is found on the left. The descent includes a 20m rappel into the Fonts del Riu Glorieta pool, which can be stagnant, followed by two more rappels (10m, 15m) into a cleaner pool. Further rappels include a 16m drop, a 4m optional rappel through a tunnel with a fixed rope, and several other optional rappels (10m, 6m). The final rappels are 17m and another 17m drop with an awkward reception due to an overhanging wall. Anchors are generally two chemical bolts. A full wetsuit is recommended, and ropes of 2x20m or 1x40m are needed. The return walk is 40 minutes.
