
Cañón Peralejo
The Peralejo canyon, located near Castril, offers a 2-hour approach along the right bank of the Castril river, passing the Barranco Nacimiento viewpoint and the ruins of Cortijo Peralejo. The ascent into Barranco de la Osca involves cables and steps, leading to the head of the canyon after a steep climb and scree. The descent features five rappels. The first is a short 8m drop, followed by a 10m rappel in a narrow channel. The third is a scenic 35m rappel, requiring rope protection. The canyon is equipped with parabolts, and a 2x50m rope is recommended. No wetsuit is needed for this route. The return walk takes about 30 minutes. This canyon is rated v4-a1-III, indicating a significant vertical challenge, minimal water, and moderate commitment.
