Barranco de Diablozulo

The Barranco de Diablozulo is a dry canyon with 21 rappels, the longest being 28m, equipped with bolts and chemical anchors. The 30-minute approach from Monreal involves walking along field edges and a short cross-country section to reach a handline marking the start. Parking is in a wide area off the road, mindful of agricultural traffic. The descent begins with a 3m downclimbable rappel in a narrow section, followed by a 7m rappel into a shallow pool. Subsequent rappels include an 8m drop, a 13m aesthetic rappel with a handline, and an 11m rappel where an escape route is possible. A full wetsuit is needed if there is water, which typically occurs after rains. The canyon continues with a 9m rappel from a tree. The descent is long, about 4 hours, but the return walk is very short, only 5 minutes. This canyon offers a sustained vertical experience.
