Barranc d’Erta o Massivert

Barranc d’Erta, also known as Massivert, is a highly aquatic canyon with a 40-minute approach from Castellàs. The path to the canyon bed is poorly defined from Collada Blanca. It always has water, which can create strong currents, so checking the flow is essential. The descent takes 3 hours and features 5 rappels, with the longest being 7m. The first difficulty is a 3m drop from a rock bridge, which can be rappelled or slid as a toboggan if the flow is low. The second rappel is 5m, leading to a zone of whirlpools; it can be rappelled from a high spit on the left to avoid the turbulent section. The third rappel is 4m. Anchors are varied, including rock bridges, spits, parabolts, and trees, with equipment quality rated as regular. Escapes are available. A full wetsuit is required due to the a4 aquatic rating. The return walk is 20 minutes.
