Barranc de Estret de l’Estany Obert o Pinyana Combinación Pinyana, Lleida

The Estret de l’Estany Obert, also known as Pinyana, is an aquatic canyon near Pinyana, Lleida, suitable for beginners. It features 3 rappels, the longest being 13m, and requires a full wetsuit and two 15m ropes. The approach is a quick 15-minute walk, descending to the canyon bed after crossing a path near a hut. The canyon typically has water, but caution is advised with high flow. After a corridor section with short downclimbs, the first rappel (13m) offers two options: a left route outside the active flow or a right route through it, ending in a deep pool. The second rappel (7m) has a pendulum exit and a somewhat exposed anchor, with a potential jump option. The final rappel (3m) is a short drop that can be jumped. Anchors are excellent chemical bolts with chains and double rings. There are no escape routes. The descent takes about 40 minutes, followed by a 15-minute return walk, making it a concise and enjoyable aquatic experience.
