Barranco Fenollet Oeste + Barranco Fenollet Este

This combination of Fenollet Oeste and Este canyons offers a full day of activity near Organyà. The approach takes 40 minutes, climbing steeply along black pipes from a small parking area to an open explanade, then traversing to the Oeste canyon entrance. The Oeste canyon is dry, semi-open, and ramped, with 8 rappels (longest 24m) and installations of parabolts and some spits. Care is needed due to loose rock, especially as the last four rappels are close together. After the Oeste canyon, a link path leads up to Roc de l'Oleu and then down to the Este canyon. Fenollet Este, part of the "50 Barrancs" list, features small, avoidable pools depending on rainfall, and also has 8 rappels (longest 43m) with parabolts and spits. Canyon boots are recommended for the Este section. Both canyons are rated v3-a1-II for Oeste and v4-a1-II for Este, requiring 2x30m ropes for Oeste and 2x50m for Este (so carry 2x50m for the combination). The total descent time is 5 hours, with a 10-minute return. There are no escape routes.
