Barranco Foz de la Canal Superior + Inferior
The Foz de la Canal Integral canyon, combining its upper and lower sections, offers a sustained descent with 15 rappels, the longest being 45m. The approach takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, ascending a track from the A-138 road near Bielsa, passing the start of the lower section to reach the upper. The descent begins with a slippery 20m ramped rappel, followed by a 6m downclimbable drop. Subsequent rappels include a 10m drop through a corridor and a 16m rappel from an embedded rock. The highlight is a spectacular 47m rappel, which can be done in two pitches (20m + 50m) to avoid rope friction, with options for higher or lower anchor points. Anchors are good parabolts with chains and maillons. A full wetsuit is required due to the aquatic nature. The descent takes 3 hours, with a very short 5-minute return. This canyon is a committing route suitable for experienced canyoneers.
