
Barranco de Gabieto Superior + Inferior
The Gabieto Superior canyon approach takes 1 hour 15 minutes from Bujaruelo, crossing the river and following a steep, marked trail. At 1750m, turn right to reach the first rappel of the upper section. The descent includes 6 rappels, with the longest being 54m. The first rappel is a spectacular, mostly overhanging 54m drop. This is followed by a 30m rappel down slippery ramps and a 35m drop from a single bolt. Anchors are precarious, consisting of spits, rock bridges, pitons, and trees, requiring careful assessment. Two 60m ropes are needed. A wetsuit is optional. The return walk is a short 10 minutes.
