Barranco Manyanet Superior + Inferior

The Manyanet Superior + Inferior canyon, located near the village of Manyanet, requires a 20-minute approach. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, you can drive 1.6 km further to a stream crossing. Otherwise, park at Manyanet. The route is highly aquatic year-round and best done in summer. The canyon was re-equipped in August 2010 with excellent chemical anchors. The descent features 19 rappels over 1550 meters, with the longest being 25 meters. The first rappel is 7m, followed by an 18m rappel requiring a traverse of the active flow, and a 9m rappel avoiding the main cascade. The route continues with a 4m downclimb and an 8m rappel with a handline. Full neoprene and two 30m ropes are needed. There are two escape routes. After approximately 3 hours of descent, the return walk takes 20 minutes. The canyon has a total vertical drop of 290 meters. It is a sustained and engaging route.
