Barranco del Nacimiento

The Barranco del Nacimiento is approached in 10 minutes from Millares. From the CV-580, turn right before the village, follow a cemented track for 400m, and park at a curve with a sign. The approach descends towards the castle, then veers right past electrical towers to a viewpoint and a dam, where the first rappel is located. The descent is aquatic, featuring 6 rappels and a long, fun toboggan. The first rappel is 10m from a fig tree over a small dam. The second is an aesthetic 25m rappel. After the toboggan, a 4m rappel offers a jump into a deep pool or a 4-5m jump from a ledge. An escape route is available at some house ruins. Subsequent rappels include a 20m constricted drop with a handrail, a 6m rappel, and the spectacular 65m "Salto del Monstruo." This canyon requires two 70m ropes and a full wetsuit. It takes about 2 hours to descend, with a 25-minute return walk. Water levels should be checked before going.
