Rápeles de Mur
The Rápeles de Mur, near Ramales de la Victoria, offers a 1-hour descent with 2 rappels, the longest being 35m. The 25-minute approach starts from the Cueva Covalanas parking, following a track and then a path to the top of the cave, where a life line is visible. This canyon is typically dry, so no wetsuit is needed. Two 40m ropes are required. The first rappel, R1 (35m), is accessed via a handrail to a comfortable ledge. It features two anti-friction devices and is entirely free-hanging after the second device, opening into a giant bell-shaped cave. An unstable section leads to the handrail for R2 (33m). This rappel also has a vertical section ending in a free-hanging drop, with three anti-friction devices. The return walk is a quick 10 minutes, passing climbing walls.
