Riera de Mas Clave
Riera de Mas Clave, near Sant Hilari Sacalm, offers a moderately aquatic descent. The 30-minute approach from the parking area involves following a track, then a diagonal path through the forest to the stream. The descent features 7 rappels. The first is a slippery 12m drop into a shallow pool. The second is a scenic 28m rappel, with an intermediate tree and chemical anchor for a handline, leading to a large dead trunk. A short 3m rappel over the dead trunk follows. Subsequent rappels include a 25m drop with more vegetation, a 30m rappel down an extremely slippery ramp using a block with chemical anchors, and two final rappels of 30m and 20m from trees. Anchors are primarily chemical hangers, with some older spits and natural tree anchors. A full wetsuit is recommended due to the water. The return walk takes 35 minutes.
