Barranco de Salcorz
Barranco de Salcorz is a sustained canyon with 20 rappels, the longest being 45m. The approach takes 1 hour, starting from a parking area near the Bielsa tunnel. The path is initially very steep, then levels out, and finally ascends in zig-zags before a traverse leads to the canyon. The descent begins with slippery downclimbs leading to the first rappel of 30m. Subsequent rappels include a 32m drop with a short handline, a 26m rappel, and a 24m rappel where the waterfall turns left. A beautiful 34m rappel follows. Anchors are primarily trees, some with added cordino that may need removal. Several escape routes are available. The canyon requires 2x50m ropes and a shorty wetsuit. The return walk is a quick 5 minutes. The water flow is visible from the road, allowing for conditions assessment.
