Sallent de Bertrans Falgars d’en Bas, Girona

The Sallent de Bertrans is a short, vertical descent in Falgars d'en Bas. The approach is 15 minutes from the upper car park, following the right bank of the stream for 500m to the head. It requires two cars, one left at the Hostalet d'en Bas entrance and the other at a bridge 800m past L'Hostalot rural house. The descent features five rappels. The first is 4m, followed by a spectacular 50m rappel with an overhang, which can get wet with high water. The third is 8m, then a 22m ramp rappel, and finally a tricky 16m rappel with a committing, overhanging start. Anchors are a mix of new stainless steel bolts and reinforced trees. The route is well-equipped with recent re-bolting efforts. Full wetsuits are recommended. The return walk is 20 minutes. There are escape routes available.
