The Salt de Sallent de l’Espunyola, near L’Espunyola, is a short and spectacular canyon primarily featuring a single 40m rappel. The approach takes 25 minutes along a track, following GR marks. The descent is quick, about 20 minutes, and the return walk is also 20 minutes, making it ideal for repeating the rappel. The canyon typically has a trickle of water, but can be dry in summer; a wetsuit may be needed depending on conditions. The main rappel is almost entirely free-hanging from two stainless steel parabolts with a chain and ring, offering an impressive experience. An initial 5m rappel from a tree provides access to the main anchor. Equipment is excellent, with modern, well-placed anchors. There are no escape routes within the short course. The return follows a somewhat lost path along the wall, leading back to the marked trail and parking.
