The Sallent de Pibernat canyon starts with a 20-minute approach from the parking near Falgars d'en Bas. After a 1.2 km walk past a barrier, find the best path down to the stream bed, generally following a parallel trail on the right side. The descent features 3 or 4 rappels. The first is a 10m rappel from a tree, followed by a traverse with a fixed rope. The second is an impressive 48m vertical rappel from a tree, which can be split at an intermediate anchor (30m) to ease rope recovery. Anchors are stainless steel parabolts and trees. No wetsuit is typically needed unless water levels are very high. There are no escape routes. The return walk takes 1 hour. Two 50m ropes are required.
