Salt de Tirabous

Salt de Tirabous is a dry canyon with a 20-minute approach from a car park near Tavertet. The path to the torrent bed is indistinct, requiring bushwhacking and GPS navigation. Long sleeves are advised due to dense vegetation. The descent involves two main rappels. The first is 50m from two chemical anchors with double rings, featuring a tricky start and a final overhang section. The second rappel is 45m, with more overhangs. The second anchor is a bit to the right of the rappel line and only fits three people. The rock is soft, and the chemical anchors show erosion, so vigilance is required. Rope retrieval can be problematic, so a rescue rope is recommended. This canyon is rated v4-a1-I, indicating a significant vertical challenge with no water. No wetsuit is needed. The return walk takes 40 minutes.
