Salt de la Freixedella Falgars d’en Bas, Girona

The Salt de la Freixedella canyon, located in Falgars d'en Bas, offers a short but engaging descent. The approach is a quick 5 minutes from the village, crossing a gate and a broken fence to reach the streambed discreetly. Parking is available in the village or at a nearby junction for 3 cars. The descent features 4 rappels over 150 meters, with a total vertical drop of 60 meters. The first rappel is 45m, with sections of overhang, and can be set from a solid tree on the right. This is followed by a 12m rappel with a suspended exit, and a beautiful 30m rappel that requires a 60m rope. The final 4m drop can be downclimbed or rappelled from an old anchor on a central tree. Anchors are typically ropes with maillons or stainless steel rings on trees, re-equipped in May 2023. No wetsuit is needed, but two 50m ropes are required. The descent takes about 1 hour, and the return walk is 20 minutes. This canyon is a good option for a quick, vertical experience.
