Barranco del Sein

The Barranco del Sein, near San Juan de Plan, offers a 1.5-hour descent with 7 rappels, the longest being 22m. The 15-minute approach starts from a parking spot by the Sen river bridge, following a small path to the canyon bed. Anchors are a mix of parabolts and natural points, but some older croquis may be outdated. The descent begins with a 6m rappel (or downclimb), followed by several slippery downclimbs. The 12m R1 requires a handrail to access the anchor, passing through active water. R2 is a 22m rappel with a series of slippery downclimbs and toboggans, requiring a rope due to high flow. Subsequent rappels are shorter (6m, 8m, 6m), with R4 featuring a hole and a toboggan section. This canyon is aquatic (a3) and often has good water flow, making it prone to being slippery. A full wetsuit and two 30m ropes are recommended. The return walk is very short, taking only 1 minute.
