Sot del Torn o de la Guillotera

The Sot del Torn or de la Guillotera canyon, near Tagamanent, has a 20-minute approach from the town hall parking. Cross the bridge on foot, follow the track past the train tracks, and ascend to Can Fabregar. The entry can be a 6m rappel or a downclimb 5m to the left. The descent includes five rappels. The first is a somewhat dirty and overhanging 5m rappel from a tree. This is followed by an 11m rappel on a slippery ramp, a scenic 15m rappel from a tree (watch for vegetation), and an 11m rappel over ledges into a muddy pool, which can be downclimbed to avoid the mud. An escape route is available after the fourth rappel. The final 10m rappel is at a small dam, easily avoidable by downclimbing on the left. The canyon is usually dry and does not require a wetsuit. Anchors are natural and spits, requiring a 2x20m rope. The return takes 15 minutes.
