
Torrent de Fondo Inferior
The Torrent de Fondo Inferior, also known as Font Seca or Santa Caterina Inferior, is a dry canyon in Montserrat. The approach takes 15 minutes from the La Salut hermitage parking, following a GR path towards Cova de Salnitre. The descent involves 5 rappels, the longest being 25m, with a total vertical drop of 400m over 900m. Anchors are equipped with parabolts and chemical hangers. The route includes a peculiar and challenging section within a cave, the "Pas de la Barra," requiring contortionism to pass under an embedded block, protected by a thin cable. Note that the Torrent de Fondo is prohibited from March 1st to July 31st. A 2x30m or 1x60m rope is needed. The return walk is 15 minutes. This canyon is rated V3 A1 II.
