Torrent de Fontalba Queralbs, Girona Acuático

Torrent de Fontalba is an aquatic canyon with 8 or 9 rappels, requiring two 50m or 60m ropes and a full wetsuit. The approach from the Fontalba parking takes 15 minutes, following the GR path and then descending through the pine forest to the gorge entrance. The descent begins with several downclimbs and optional toboggans (check for submerged rocks). The first section has walking until the main gorge, which features three consecutive rappels: a 6m rappel, a 15m rappel from a tree with an uncomfortable exit, and a spectacular 30m rappel with a powerful waterfall that can be avoided. Installations are correct, and there are escape routes throughout most of the canyon. The descent takes 3 hours, with a 25-minute return. It is rated v4-a4-I, indicating a significant vertical and aquatic challenge.
