Torrent del Misser

The Torrent del Misser is a dry canyon in Montserrat with 11 rappels, the longest being 20m. The approach from Vinya Nova takes 1.5 hours, following a track and then a steep path. The final section to the torrent involves a diagonal descent through dense vegetation, possibly requiring a machete. The descent features several mandatory rappels, some longer than indicated in older guides. The first rappel is 15m from a tree, followed by a 15m rappel through a narrow hole from two parabolts. Subsequent rappels include a 4m drop from a tree and another 15m rappel from a tree trunk. The anchors are a mix of chains on trees and parabolts. The return walk is short, taking only 15 minutes. This canyon is rated v2a1II, requiring a 50m rope and no wetsuit. Be aware that some listed slides are actually mandatory rappels.
