Cuenca is a major sport climbing destination in central Spain, with 460 routes primarily on grey and orange limestone. The climbing is technical and physical, featuring pockets and crimps, with grades ranging from 6a to 8b. While many routes are challenging, there are also high-quality easier options. The crag is spread across the gorges of the Júcar, Huécar, and Valdecabras rivers. Sectors like Juego de Bolos, Portero de Noche, and Paúles offer short approaches, often just 5-10 minutes. Spring and autumn are the best seasons, as winters are very cold and summers are hot and dry. Some holds are chipped, especially on steeper overhangs.
